Celebrating women and girls in science

Science, from the microscopic to the macrocosmic levels, has been shaped by women since the dawn of civilization. The passion, devotion, and commitment that women have brought to STEM research is undeniable, as is their pronounced scholarship in the fields of scientific publishing and science communication.

From scientific editing, publishing, peer review, science writing, and operations and project management, women in scientific publishing work with researchers worldwide to ensure the quality of published research and to share life-changing scientific discoveries with the world.

On International Women’s Day 2021, Cactus Communications collaborated with Wiley to celebrate the contributions of women in STEM. We spoke to some women about working in STEM, their motivations, the biases and other challenges they face, and their message to women and girls looking to be a part of STEM fields.
